The Publift Scoop
Welcome to the Publift Scoop for September!
Seasonal Snapshot
The hot topic in advertising for the last few months concerns Apple’s latest privacy update, iOS 14. Publishers brace themselves as Apple takes a bold stance, giving users more control over which platforms can track them. The iOS 14 update will impact Identifiers for Advertisers (IDFA) in particular. It’s an anonymous unique device identifier that allows publishers to display more relevant, personalized ads to their users, along with tracking their analytics and attribution. The key concern is that users will now be able to opt-in or opt-out of tracking when they are shown the IDFA pop-up after downloading a new app. Whilst users are granted control and privacy protection, app developers and publishers that rely on ad monetization are expected to experience a sizable drop in revenue for iPhone users.
Although the change was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, Apple will be delaying their release until 2021. Publishers and developers will have more time to prepare, adapt and explore solutions to lessen the impact.
Below is a summary of what we’re seeing comparing the year-on-year decline in September’s CPM by market.

Fuse Tag Speed Improvement
We know how important speed is in our industry. Faster sites foster better experiences for users. Ads are no different. Faster ads lead to improved page coherence and better performance in CPM, RPM and Viewability. This month, we’re conducting some small-scale, localised tests with our tag to improve the speed of auction load, auction completion and render creative render times.
